San Ramon Campgrounds

Camping in the outdoors is an enjoyable recreation for almost anyone who enjoys being close to nature. For families, these memories last a lifetime and encourage young adults to continue the experience of living away from home and uncoupling themselves from their daily routine.

San Ramon is blessed with some of the most spectacular and vast wilderness and open spaces in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. With Mount Diablo State Park close by, hikers can make their way deep into the woods to enjoy the quiet and serenity of nature.

The East Bay Regional Park District which surrounds San Ramon offers campers many choices of campgrounds and facilities. For families interested in having a traditional camping experience the "Family" campsites are most convenient. Large groups have their pick of group camping locations in any of the 11 parks in the East Bay.

Family Campgrounds

Family Campgrounds are ideal for those people looking to enjoy traditional tent camping, RV camping, or camping at walk-in sites.  The two parks that offer a variety of family campsites to choose from are:

·      Anthony Chabot Regional Park

·      Del Valle Regional Park

Family camping sites can fit a maximum of 8 people in each site regardless of the number of tents. Campers may have a maximum of two vehicles at their site.

There is an extra fee of $2/day charged for dogs; guide/service dogs are free. Pets need to be a leash to a maximum of six feet.

Group Campsites

Group campsites make it possible for large groups to camp together in one site. They are located throughout 11 different parks. There are three developed group campsites and 30 primitive campsites available.

Eleven or more people are considered a group.

Developed group campsites are those sites located within a family campground. Amenities include flush toilets and showers. These sites are:
