San Ramon Newspapers and Magazines

San Ramon in Costa Contra County in California is served by several newspapers and magazines devoted to the San Francisco East Bay Area, Costa Contra County, or San Ramon Valley, as well as local community newspapers. Most offer both print and online versions as well as mobile news feeds.

Contra Costa Times, Bay Area News Group

Contra Costa Times is a daily newspaper with special focus on Costa Contra and Alameda Counties, serving towns that include Alamo, Concord, Danville, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, and Lafayette. The Times covers regional news, local events, business, arts and entertainment, sports, lifestyle, opinions and columns, as well as California, national and world news. Contra Costa Times is available by subscription in print and e-edition, and free as an RSS feed and on mobiles and online. It is published by the Bay Area News Group, which publishes other newspapers under the Contra Costa Times umbrella.

San Ramon Valley Times, another Bay Area Group daily newspaper and subset of the Contra Costa Times, covers the communities of San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, and Diablo. It gives a strong regional focus on the towns it serves, with local news, high school and regional sports reporting, business, technology, local events, entertainment, and lifestyle articles. Besides the print edition available on subscription, it is available online and as Android and iTunes apps. The online version is currently building a local community hub for interaction with readers.

Oakland Tribune is a daily newspaper with an East Bay Area focus, with news, lifestyle articles, sports and entertainment coverage, business news and opinions and columns, as well as national and California news. This respected Pulitzer Prize winning paper is part of the Bay Area News Group. The print edition is delivered to subscribers, online and mobile versions are also available.

Daily Review is a regional paper with a strong focus on local news, events, entertainment, sports, business, and lifestyle. The content is similar to its sister publication, San Ramon Valley Times. Besides the print edition available on subscription, the Daily Review is available as an Android app, and online.

The Independent 

The Independent is a weekly newspaper serving Livermore, Pleasanton and Sunol, with a strong local focus in its news and coverage of community, arts and entertainment, local government and civic bodies, youth and sports. Its proactive reporting of issues affecting the valley’s communities, cities, and surrounding spaces, parks and wine country, mobilizing public opinion and supporting citizen driven campaigns gives readers another perspective and voice on civic issues. The Independent   magazine accompanies the paper and focuses on art, culture and entertainment. Subscription to the print edition is $70 annually for anyone in the US outside Pleasanton, Dublin, Sunol and Livermore, where it is delivered free. The PDF version is e-mailed at a cost of $26 a year.

The Valley Sentinel

The Valley Sentinel is a community paper for San Ramon Valley. This family-friendly publication, with no crime or tragic event reporting, focuses on local community news and events, non-profits, community service, education, local government, sports, seniors, wellness and lifestyle. There is a monthly full- color pullout section devoted to a topic of special interest, and a twice-yearly magazine, Back Pocket Guide to the Bay, distributed free all over Contra Costa County, at BART stations, libraries, community centers and gyms, commercial drop sites, and many ped-mount sidewalk distribution boxes. The print edition is delivered through the mail.

San Ramon Express

 San Ramon Express is a daily e-newsletter distributed by e-mail every weekday containing information on current news and events, resources, and businesses in San Ramon and provides a platform for community engagement through the Town Square Forum. An electronic digest of recent headlines is delivered every Friday. San Ramon Express also publishes magazines such as Views, Danville Weekly, and Pleasanton Weekly.

San Ramon Tribune

San Ramon Tribune is an online newspaper with a local and community perspective, giving information on San Ramon news and events, sports, arts and entertainment, local government, community forums and campaigns on issues affecting the city of San Ramon and its community.

San Francisco Chronicle

San Francisco Chronicle is the greater Bay Area’s premier newspaper with the widest coverage and readership, spread over Northern and Central California, including San Ramon. The Chronicle reports on world, national and local news, as well as sports, entertainment, business, lifestyle, opinion, and a wide spectrum of other news. It is available daily in print, and as an online edition,

North Bay Business Journal

The North Bay Business Journal is a controlled circulation business-to-business newspaper for North Bay companies. The Journal has print and online editions with news stories and articles for the business community, as well as an e-newsletter. The North Bay Business Journal hosts industry level events and conferences for the health care, construction and wine industries, and on local issues.

ALIVE East Bay Magazine

Diablo is the premier monthly magazine written specifically for San Francisco East Bay. The locally-driven editorial content includes articles on current events, education, lifestyle, personalities, travel, entertainment and recreation, and food. Diablo, which has won awards for best regional and local magazine, is available online and as a print edition home delivered to subscribers at $20 for a year (12 issues). An e-newsletter is also available.
